Irish Traditional Music Classes

6/12/2017

Irish Traditional Music Classes are held in Scoil Naomh Iósaf every Tuesday after school. Children from 2nd class and up are welcome. Children begin on the tin-whistle and if they wish, may progress to another instrument eg. fiddle, mandolin, banjo, flute, concertina or accordion after a year on the whistle.
Here are some photos taken over the last few years of the musicians in their lessons, or in various performances in school. This year's summer school concert is a chance to hear the musicians play along with the school choir. The concert takes place on Monday 26th June at 7.30pm.

I have a brother who's into music. He can play the piano and the guitar. He's only 6-years old and we want to unleash his full potential. He's interested to learn to play accordion. He wishes to take up music classes but we're still trying to figure out when and where. Yours seems interesting. I would really suggest this to him. I'm sure he'll like this.

How do you believe these music classes contribute to the cultural enrichment and development of the children, not only in terms of musical skills but also in fostering a connection to Irish traditions?
